Google?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What pages they looked at<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And whether they stayed or bounced off like a bored squirrel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step-by-Step Setup (Manual)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Go to <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/analytics.google.com\">analytics.google.com<\/a> and sign in with your Google account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Click <strong>Start measuring<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Create a new property (your business website).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Give it a name like \u201cPrestonplumber.co.uk\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Choose <strong>Web<\/strong> as the platform, then enter your website address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. Google will give you a <strong>tracking ID<\/strong> (it looks like <code>G-XXXXXXXXXX<\/code>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under that, you\u2019ll see a bit of code that looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">htmlCopyEdit<code>&lt;!-- Google tag (gtag.js) --&gt;\n&lt;script async src=\"https:\/\/www.googletagmanager.com\/gtag\/js?id=G-XXXXXXXXXX\"&gt;&lt;\/script&gt;\n&lt;script&gt;\n  window.dataLayer = window.dataLayer || [];\n  function gtag(){dataLayer.push(arguments);}\n  gtag('js', new Date());\n  gtag('config', 'G-XXXXXXXXXX');\n&lt;\/script&gt;<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll need to paste this into your website\u2019s header.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Add This Code to Your Website<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need to paste this into the <strong>header<\/strong> of your website. That just means the top part of your website\u2019s code\u2014don\u2019t worry, there\u2019s a plugin for that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you use <strong>WordPress<\/strong> (Insert Header and Footers plug-in):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install a plugin like <strong>Insert Headers and Footers<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to Plugins &gt; Add New<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search \u201cInsert Headers and Footers\u201d by WPCode or similar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <em>Install<\/em>, then <em>Activate<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to Settings &gt; Insert Headers and Footers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paste the Google Analytics code into the <strong>Header<\/strong> box<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <em>Save<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s it\u2014Google is now watching (in a good way).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If You Use WordPress (Site Kit plug-in):<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t want to mess with code?
